These biographical essays, many reprinted from The Pittsburgh Quarterly, describe the men who transformed Pittsburgh into one of the leading industrial cities in the world. Included here are essays on George Westinghouse, A.W. Mellon, Charlie Schwab, and many more. The book also includes a brief history of Pittsburgh.

William S. Dietrich II is chairman of Dietrich Charitable Trusts in Pittsburgh. He is the former President and CEO of Dietrich Industries and has a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Love Pittsburgh History

I am currently reading Steel City. Having grown up in a Pittsburgh suburb it is wonderful reading its history. The book is well written and a very interesting and pleasant read.
