
Taking samples from the new OSM furnace - 1964 | Fritz Keck
Fritz Keck is a local artist best known for his "Once Upon a Time" catalog of distinctive Pittsburgh scenes. Taking samples from the new off-site manufacturing (OSM) furnace at a Pittsburgh steel mill. The furnace is rotated 90 degrees. Samples are relayed to a vacuum spectrometer in the chemical laboratory where analysis of the elements is obtained in less than 2 minutes. The temperature is relayed to a computer to determine if the heat is ready to be tapped.
