Fritz Keck is a local artist best known for his "Once Upon a Time" catalog of distinctive Pittsburgh scenes. Depicted is the pouring of 100 tons of molten iron into an off-site manufacturing (OSM) furnace at the Duquesne Works steel mill in Pittsburgh, PA. A specially designed ladle with an elongated spout is raised over the mouth of the furnace by an overhead crane. It is poured onto the steel scrap already in the furnace.
