From the late 1800s to late 1900s, Pittsburgh had a vast electric streetcar network running over 600 miles of track. The system had innovative technology for complex routes and steep hills in order to serve the 90 neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, creating a rolling melting pot of riders. The #1756 trolley is pictured going past the Civic Arena in the lower Hill District of Pittsburgh.
